One of the biggest stars of the silver screen for over five decades, Sean Connery has passed away at the age of 90. Sources say he died peacefully in the Bahamas after battling an illness for some time.

Connery had almost too many memorable roles to count. He starred in some of the most iconic franchises in movie history. Here are three of his very best.

James Bond: Sean Connery and James Bond are synonymous. You can't have one without the other. Not only was he by far the best James Bond, but he was the first to bring the franchise to the silver screen. In total, Connery would star in 7 James Bond films and give us countless catchphrases, like the ones in the video above.

The Untouchables: While the James Bond films were unquestionably what Connery is most known for, his best work may have been in 1987's The Untouchables, in which Connery plays Irish Cop, Jim Malone. He won an Oscar for the role the following year.

The Hunt For Red October: In 1990 Connery played the role of Marko Ramius, a Soviet Sub Commander headed for the American Eastern Seaboard. The movie (which was based on the Tom Clancy novel) was a big hit. Connery and Alec Baldwin gave us one of the more intense war movies made in a long time with this one.

Sean Connery faded from public life in the past fifteen years, opting to spend more time with his family and only appeared in a few films. His performances throughout the decades though put him in the top tier of greatest actors of all-time.
