Which ‘Celebrities’ on Cameo Have a South Dakota Connection?

A website that gives you a chance to get a personalized greeting from some of the most famous people around without having to seek them out for a face-to-face encounter or dropping something in the mail hoping to get it signed and returned.

It's called Cameo and it's been around now for nearly seven years, launching in March of 2017 with then-NFL linebacker Cassius Marsh the first official Cameo celebrity you could interact with.

The concept of the site is pretty simple. For a fee, you request a 'shout out' from a famous face and provide them with some info for a customized video greeting.

The site quickly caught on, with Cameo's worth jumping to an estimated $300 million after just two years. Those numbers have since dwindled a bit, but the company did see an uptick in business during COVID.

At last count, there are more than 30,000 celebrities available for hire, with Caitlyn Jenner attracting the highest fee at $2,500 per video.

So what kind of presence does the state known for its 'Great Faces' South Dakota have on Cameo?

Baylor Scheierman - $10

The Hastings, Nebraska native played basketball for three seasons at South Dakota State before transferring to Creighton for the 2022-23 season.

Tyson Graham - $20

The Pompano Beach, Florida native played football at the University of South Dakota for four years and has since played in the NFL, AAF, XFL, and USFL.

Amber Hulse - $20

The Hot Springs, South Dakota native attended USD and competed as Miss South Dakota at the 2019 Miss America Pageant.

Cade Johnson - $20

The Papillion, Nebraska native played football at SDSU and most recently was on the Seattle Seahawks roster for the 2022 NFL season.

This group was founded in Sioux Falls in 2015 to promote and cultivate pro wrestling talent in the area.

Dick Bremer - $50

The St. Paul, Minnesota native recently retired after 40 years as the TV play-by-play voice of the Minnesota Twins. His South Dakota connection? He donates all of his Cameo earnings to the ALS Association Minnesota/North Dakota/South Dakota Chapter.

Shayna Baszler - $70

The Sioux Falls native and Lincoln High School graduate is known as the 'Queen of Spades' in the MMA and pro wrestling world. She is a two-time NXT champion and three-time WWE title winner.

Adam Vinatieri - $250

Vinatieri was born in Yankton and raised in Rapid City. He kicked for SDSU for four years before embarking on a career that netted him four Super Bowl rings with the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts. He retired after the 2019 season as the NFL's all-time leading scorer and is a strong candidate to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2025, which is his first year of eligibility.
