What?! South Dakota Highway Patrol Catches Speedy Drunk Driver
Some drivers tend to test the speed limits on South Dakota highways. One South Dakota driver early Saturday morning (December 7th) really pushed a state trooper from the South Dakota Highway Patrol to its breaking point.
A severely intoxicated driver was cruising on Interstate 90 when the driver was pulled over for going well over the South Dakota speed limit. The trooper who pulled over the driver clocked the drunk driver in at well-over 100 miles per hour. The driver was .134% over the legal drinking limit. What a jerk!
The South Dakota Highway Patrol shared a picture of the driver's speed and drinking limit on its Facebook page. The drunk driver was driving 122 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. But getting a speeding ticket was the least of this driver's problems. After blowing a .134% on the breathalyzer, the driver was arrested for a DUI.
Troopers with the South Dakota Highway Patrol explain this driver provides a great lesson for all South Dakota drivers.
Slow down and designate a sober driver this holiday season!
Having a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08% or higher is considered driving under the influence. The state law indicates being under the influence includes alcohol, marijuana, any controlled substance, or a combination of these.
This dangerous South Dakota driver will not get away with drinking and driving. This driver will have this DUI on its record for at least 10 years. The driver will potentially face fines of up to $2,000, have a suspended license, and spend a year in jail.
It's simple. Slow down, be mindful of the other drivers around you, and more importantly don't drink and drive!
