According to Yelp Reviews officials, they "identified businesses in the restaurants category, then ranked those spots using a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews between January 1, 2021, and May 1, 2023. This list looked at businesses in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. When available, all businesses on this list have a passing health score as of May 1, 2023." There are foods on the 2023 Top 100 Midwest Restaurants list that come from big cities to rural small towns. It's truly a smörgåsbord!

This South Dakota restaurant is giving its patrons a taste of the world. Skogen Kitchen says the goal is to "bring flavors from around the world to Custer for everyone to enjoy."

Cruizzers in Keystone (#78 on Yelp Reviews)

South Dakotans go crazy for Cruizzers. One review says the pizza spot is, "One of the best pizzas I ever had! Hidden gem in the Keystone /Rapid City area! We had just visited Mount Rushmore and were on our way to Custer Park- but we were hungry and found this amazing pizza place on the balcony/second floor!"

My Top 5 Favorite South Dakota Made Foods

As I was slicing a piece of cheese off my block of Dimock Dairy Colby cheese and boiling a ring of Bluebird Locker German sausage on the stove, I started thinking, "What foods is South Dakota known for?'
