The Sioux Falls Area Humane Society is now one of 19 shelters across six states to partner with Wild Tunes. This organization was founded in 2023 by "10-year-old Yuvi Agarwal, an animal lover and musician who recognized how music calmed his dog Bozo and wondered if it could do the same for homeless animals in shelters." Wild Tunes has more than 325 volunteers, and now South Dakota has a chance to make a difference for pets at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.

Programs Manager Lexy Nuttbrock of Sioux Falls Area Humane Society tells our new partners at Dakota News Now that music has a special way of keeping pets calm and comfortable.

“After they get in the groove of hearing the music, a lot of the time they’ll start sleeping or they’ll lay down, and the room goes completely silent. The last time someone was here, you could hear a dog snoring."

Some pets are long-term residents at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society, and music could help make waiting for a new home easier. Having happier pets means they have higher chances of getting adopted.

This could be a rewarding gig for any Sioux Empire musicians. If you're interested in singing to the pets at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society, schedule your showtime here.

Music heals all souls, especially our pets!
