A missing Minnesota cat named Charles ran away from its home in Luverne. But just when all hope was lost, Charles unexpectedly returned home.

The Johnson family in Luverne, Minnesota was worried for weeks when Charles went missing. They thought the worst of their beloved indoor/outdoor cat. You can only imagine their relief and surprise when Charles came home.

Our partners at Dakota News Now caught up with the Johnson family about this adventurous cat. Charles didn't return home one day after being away from the Johnson home. They thought the phrase "curiosity killed the cat" was what happened to Charles. He maybe was a little curious and then a car hit him. Thankfully, Charles was not hit by a car. But this poor Minnesota cat was trapped in a cage.

It turns out, Charles got stuck in a rabbit trap while wandering around his Luverne neighborhood. Unfortunately, he lost his collar and looked like a stray. Charles was released close to a state park. He was alone for ten days. The family spent time and energy creating posters and driving around town. Luckily, a concerned citizen noticed Charles and called the family.

The Johnson family is so relieved to have their precious family member home. It looks like Charles will be spending more time indoors.

The family is grateful to everyone in the community who helped them look for their missing cat, including strangers who had only seen the posters. They said there’s a good chance they will keep Charles indoors from now on.

This is a lesson for anyone who finds a stray animal. Always take an animal to a shelter or a local veterinarian. More on this curious Minnesota cat can be found here.
