The Flower Garden with Gazebo and Historic House has been a part of Sioux Falls history since the late 1800s.
The Historic House on the north edge of the Tuthill Flower Garden is believed to have been built sometime in the 1880s or 1890s.
Arthur Tuthill and his wife Dot owned the land and house from 1915 until 1953. They used the house as a summer home up until 1953 when they donated it and some 40 acres of land to the City of Sioux Falls to use as a park.
Arthur Tuthill was a successful businessman who along with his brothers ran a lumber company in Sioux Falls. Mrs. Tuthill kept the formal flower gardens located next to the Historic House and beautiful flower gardens.
As you can imagine the Tuthill Formal Gardens and gazebo is a very popular place to hold wedding ceremonies. There are approximately 23 benches located throughout the garden area for wedding guests or just park visitors to sit and soak in the wonderful views and smells.
