Starbucks has announced plans to close approximately 250 coffeehouses, so are any Starbucks locations in South Dakota, Minnesota, or Iowa closing?

Starbucks is closing 250 locations across North America as part of its ongoing “Back to Starbucks” strategy.

The company says the locations were identified after reviewing its coffeehouse portfolio, with closures focused on stores where Starbucks believes it cannot consistently deliver the customer experience it wants or achieve acceptable financial performance.

That sounds like a lot of coffee shops, and it is, but Starbucks says the roughly 250 closures represent only about 1% of its more than 18,000 North American locations.

The company also says it continues to see opportunities for growth and is developing a pipeline of new coffeehouses.

So, what about South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa?

So far Starbucks has not publicly released a complete state-by-state list of the approximately 250 locations being closed.

That means there isn't enough official information yet to say that a particular Starbucks in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids or elsewhere in these three states is definitely closing.

Starbucks says impacted employees are being contacted and that customers will be directed to nearby locations when a store closes.
