Adventurous Sioux Falls Man to Climb Mt. Everest in October
Most of us have one or two things on the proverbial "bucket list" we want to accomplish before we shuffle off the planet.
For a Sioux Falls man named Gavin Bell, bucket list-type adventures are another day in his life.
Bell is no stranger to life-changing moments, right now, Bell is busy training to climb Mount Everest. That's the next big quest on his list of adventures.
Bell, told Dakota News Now, he has done several expeditions all over the world. To prepare for these adventures, he's hiked in places like Colorado, and right here in the flatlands of South Dakota.
When it comes to his Everest adventure, Base Camp One on Everest is at about 17,600 feet and according to Bell will take roughly 10 days to get there.
So getting in the proper shape to accomplish such a feat is an absolute necessity.
As Dakota News Now reports, the majority of Bell's Everest training is taking place right here at home in South Dakota. His typical training sessions last between 6 to 8 hours and consist of Bell hauling 25 to 30 pounds of gear in his backpack while doing a variety of different exercises like pushups and squats every few minutes as he goes along.
Bell encourages everyone to step out of their comfort zones at least once in life and try something they feel would be impossible to manage.
Once Bell accomplishes an adventure, he immediately starts planning his next quest.
What's on deck after he finishes scaling Mount Everest?
According to Dakota News Now, Bell is considering climbing Mount Kilimanjaro or possibly kayaking in Indonesia to see Komodo dragons.
He will make that decision once he returns from his Everest adventure next month.
I seriously need to up my bucket list game after hearing Bell's story. Currently at the top of my list is making it through the entire movie "Ishtar" without falling asleep.
As you can tell, I'm a real thrill seeker.
