Drive-Thru Worker Assists Vermillion PD in Busting Drunk Driver
We all know drive-thru workers get to put up with an assortment of intoxicated folks practically every day while on the job, but during the breakfast run on a Sunday morning, I'm guessing that probably doesn't happen all that often.
But it sounds like it did this past Sunday when one employee working a drive-thru at a Vermillion fast-food restaurant had an encounter with someone doing their best Otis Campbell imitation at 8 in the morning.
Talk about the ultimate drunk driving fail, according to Dakota News Now, a suspected drunk driver came rolling through the drive-thru lane of Vermillion restaurant Sunday morning, February 19 just after 8. The employee on duty could easily tell this individual had a snoot full and spent the previous evening in Tipsy Town, and was now looking for a #2 Value Meal to help soak up the suds.
The highly aware, and responsible employee did their best to help stall the arrival of the food for the intoxicated driver until Vermillion police officers could arrive on scene and break out the drunk driving test.
There's nothing like having your family see a DUI test being administered to someone on Sunday morning on the way to church. #Classy!
You gotta love the sense of humor coming out of the Vermillion PD however, in their Facebook post regarding the incident, they wrote, "Pro tip: Don’t drink from a bottle of vodka at the drive-thru window. It tends to draw attention."
