The Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota tri-state area is in for some dangerous cold temps and blowing snow.
According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, “Dangerous, life-threatening cold will settle into the area Thursday evening and continue into Sunday morning. The coldest time frame should be Thursday night into Friday when wind chills will average -20 to -40.”

Tonight: Snow, mainly before 8 pm. Low around 12. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest in the evening. The chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch is possible.
Wednesday: Snow likely, mainly before noon. Patchy blowing snow after 11 am. Partly sunny, with a high near 31. Blustery, with a west southwest wind 5 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. The chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.
Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 4. Blustery, with a west northwest wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.
Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 16. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Friday: Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near -5.
