An expensive project is in the works for the City of Sioux Falls wastewater facility and homeowners and businesses will be tabbed to cover the cost.

Looking to the future and seeing Sioux Falls continued growth, in 2018 city leaders approved the $260 million facility and gave the go-ahead in its second reading at Tuesdays City Council meeting for funding. KSFY TV is reporting that the loan request will amount to $159 million over a four year period.

What does that mean for homeowners? About $2.00 in the first year. Increases will come each year, and by the fourth year, you will pay more than $6.00 extra, according to Sioux Falls Public Works Director Mark Cotter.

The wastewater project is set to begin in 2020 with a completion date expected in 2024.
