It pains me to write this, but, summer is fading fast. Another school year in Sioux Falls begins again on Thursday, (August 22).

In case you haven't been paying attention, there are back-to-school ads all over the radio, TV, and the internet right now. For that matter, I even saw Thanksgiving Day holiday cards in the grocery store on Sunday. That's an entirely different level of insanity. Can we at least hand out some Halloween candy first?

With another school year approaching at warp speed, the annual back-to-school sock and underwear giveaway is set to take place this weekend in Sioux Falls.

Again this year, the Celebrating Families Back to School Fair will be held at Faith Lutheran Church on North Cliff Avenue from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, (August 17).

As Dakota News Now reports, this annual event gives families in the Sioux Falls area a chance to pick up packages of new socks and underwear for their kiddos just before the bell rings to kick off another new school year in the Sioux Empire.

According to Dakota News Now, area community service agencies will also be in attendance that day to provide families with information on the various services they provide that can help benefit families throughout the year.

In addition to the free clothing giveaways, and information sessions, a free lunch will also be available to those who attend from 10:00 AM until the food is gone.
