Well, I'm definitely not guilty of this one.

I don't know about you, but I am not a big fan of bees, wasps, hornets, or any other winged thing that contains a stinger. I do my best to steer clear of those little critters whenever possible.

But that didn't stop someone from stealing a beehive from a residence in the Brookings, South Dakota area during the evening of Saturday, (June 15).

Dakota News Now reports that a beehive worth roughly $500 was taken from a Brookings County residence that evening.

According to Dakota News Now, the Brookings County Sheriff's Office received a call from a resident saying one of their beehives was missing around 9:27 on the morning of (June 16).

The report states that a suspect or suspects entered a property located at 476th Ave near 216th Street on the evening of (June 15) and made off with a fairly sizeable beehive weighing around 200 pounds.

The owner of the residence keeps several beehives on the premises.

The Brookings County Sheriff's Office told Dakota News Now they still have the incident under investigation. Should you or anyone you know have information that can assist them in their search for this group of bee bandits, you're asked to please call 605-696-8300 or contact the Brookings Area Crimestoppers.

I'm guessing someone with a lot of bee stings, a large supply of honey, or an audible buzzing noise emanating from their property might be a good place to start looking.
