23rd Annual ‘Bark in the Park’ Will Be Pawsome!

The Sioux Falls Area Humane Society is gearing up for a pawsitively awesome day of fun, fitness, and furry friends with its 23rd annual Bark in the Park 3k/5k. The popular event raises funds to support homeless, abused, and neglected pets in Sioux Falls and surrounding communities.

This year’s run will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Pasley Park. You can register online right now, or you could register that morning, beginning at 8:30. Then the run/walk begins at 9:45 AM. Registration is for both the 3K and 5K.

You can take a fun stroll with your pup or go for it in the timed runs, all while helping a great cause.

The morning continues with a bunch of fun pet contests beginning at 11 a.m. Dog lovers can cheer on their pups in favorites like Doggie Musical Chairs, Best Trick, and Sloppiest Kiss—where dogs race to clean peanut butter from their owner’s face.

The “Prettiest Pooch” and “Handsome Hound” contests invite owners to show off their dogs’ best dressed looks, while the Furriest Friend award celebrates the dog that sheds the most fur.

Organizers encourage early registration, which includes a goodie bag for every participant. The first 150 dogs to arrive will also receive a free bandana, making them stylish supporters of a worthy cause.

There will also be vendors with a variety of goods for you to shop for yourself and your four-legged family members.
