On April 10, 1912 the RMS Titanic set sail from Southampton, England. Two days later at around 11:30 p.m. April 14, Titanic hit an iceberg and began to sink.

It took the ship over 2 hours and 40 minutes to sink into the icy waters of the north Atlantic ocean.

Despite receiving 6 warnings of sea ice in the shipping lanes Titanic continued it's trek en-route to New York city at near maximum speed. The Titanic was designed to be unsinkable with 6 water tight compartments that made up the ships hull.

It was later determined that when Titanic hit the iceberg it scraped the side of the ship causing numerous breaches in the ships hull allowing flooding of the water tight compartments and eventually overflowing of one compartment into the others.

There were a total of 2,240 passengers and crew on board of the Titanic for her maiden voyage. She was not outfitted with nearly enough lifeboats to accommodate that number of people.

More than 1,500 passengers lost their lives in what is called the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in the worlds history.

This amazing albeit eerie real time video was produced for a video game called "Titanic: Honor and Glory".
