My good friends KKRC Midday guy Adam North, Afternoon talent Alan Helgeson, and I have known each other for years. In that time none of us have gone without shaving our faces for very long. I realize that during this ongoing pandemic lots of folks have been missing hairdressing appointments. Myself included. But I've still taken time on a daily basis to drag a razor across my face.

Then our buddy Al says: 'How about we do this 'Movember' thing to raise awareness of men's health issues in the month of November?' And even though when I grow facial hair I tend to look like I should be holed up in a small mountain cabin writing a manifesto, I said, 'Sure. It should like a great cause.'

So I did a bit more research on what is involved in this month-long journey. The thought is 'participants forgo shaving and grooming in order to evoke conversation and raise cancer awareness.'

According to No-Shave.org the rules of No-Shave November are simple: put down your razor for 30 days and donate your monthly hair-maintenance expenses to the cause. Strict dress-code at work? Don't worry about it! We encourage the participation of any kind; grooming and trimming are perfectly acceptable.

So for the month of November, we are going to let the stubble grow. Hopefully, raise some awareness and donate some funds. And we'll also make it a healthy little competition to see who grows the 'Best Beard'.

We have started with clean-shaven faces and will monitor the progress. This may be akin to finding the fastest turtle or tallest fence post, but hey I spend most of my time wearing a facemask anyway and a bet is a bet.

If you'd like to get involved find more information on how you can help raise cancer awareness at No-Shave.org.
