The 4th of July is on a Tuesday this year.  And there are lots of things to do around Sioux Falls to celebrate Independence Day.  Here's a list:

Sioux Falls Mayor Huether's 4th of July Parade & Picnic

  • When: Tuesday July 4th
  • What: This event will feature a free lunch for the first 5,000 attendees, live music and entertainment, as well as a 5K fun run/walk and a parade down Phillips Avenue.
  • Cost: Free

Sioux Falls Jaycees 4th of July Fireworks Celebration

  • When: Tuesday July 4th.  Gates open at 5:00 PM. Fireworks at 10:00 PM.
  • Where: W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds: Fine Arts Building
  • Cost:  Free, Parking donation of $10 suggested.

Lennox Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration

  • What: This features events on July 3 and 4 including Cruise Night and Street Dance on Monday, July 3.  On Tuesday, July 4 there is a 5K and 10K race at 8:00 AM, 4th of July Parade at 10:30 AM, Kiddy Tractor Pull at 1:00 PM, band performances, and more.  Fireworks display is at Dusk. Uncle Sam's Bike Parade

  • What: Grab your bike for a 4th of July bike parade around the campground inside Big Sioux Recreation Area.
  • When: 3:00 PM
  • Cost: Park entrance license is required.

Uncle Sam 4th of July Jam

  • What: This event is held at the Swiftel Center in Brookings and includes balloon twisting, pony rides, sand box, crafts for kids and inflatable games, late night music from The Rude Band and the big fireworks finale around dusk.
  • When: Tuesday July, 4th from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM
  • Cost: Free

4th of July at Lake Mitchell

  • What: Celebrate Independence Day with Fireworks over Lake Mitchell.
  • When:  Tuesday July 4th at dusk.
  • Cost: Free

Madison Fireworks Display

  • What: Fireworks at Izaak Walton League Grounds on the North Shore of Lake Herman in Madison.
  • When:  Tuesday July 4th at dusk
  • Cost: Free
