SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Volunteers have taken advantage of low water levels to clean up trash along the Big Sioux River in Sioux Falls.

KELO television reportsthat river flows are down because of the drought, and that has uncovered mountains of trash.

About two dozen people helped clean a section of the river in Sioux Falls on Saturday in an effort spearheaded by AmeriCorps volunteers from across the country.

The volunteers say they cleaned up tires, television sets, bicycles and even what looked to be part of an oven that someone had thrown in the river.
