On Wednesday evening a devastating incident occurred tragically claiming the lives of two women.

The Kingsbury County Sheriff's Office reports that two victims, both from out of state, were likely using personal flotation devices on Lake Henry in Kingsbury County, South Dakota when sudden storm winds created hazardous conditions.

According to Dakota News Now local authorities and emergency responders were already in the area monitoring the storm when they received a distress call.

When they arrived at the lakeshore, they discovered one woman, quickly followed by the discovery of a second victim nearby.

Life-saving measures were initiated, including CPR, and both women were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital.

Despite extensive efforts by medical professionals, both individuals were ultimately pronounced dead.

The identities of the victims have not been disclosed at this time, pending notification of their families.

The Kingsbury County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
