A peculiar incident unfolded in southern Minnesota when authorities discovered a dead woman in a vehicle following a crash but the evidence suggests her death occurred before the collision.

FOX9 is reporting that early Saturday morning, Olmsted County Sheriff's deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 90 near the Highway 42 exit in Eyota Township.

They found a 32-year-old female driver outside the vehicle, receiving assistance from a passerby.

While inspecting the car, deputies made a grim discovery: a 45-year-old woman's body in the back seat.

It was quickly determined that the death was unrelated to the car crash.

After medical clearance at Mayo Hospital, the driver was taken into custody at Olmsted County Jail.

She faces charges of interfering with a dead body and obstructing legal process.

The circumstances surrounding the woman's death and the driver's actions remain unclear.

However, the case took a turn when Minneapolis police became involved.

Following a check at the deceased's residence, authorities executed a search warrant and uncovered evidence of violence at the scene.
