There is just something about a root beer float that screams "summertime treat"! If you feel the same way, you'll want to celebrate National Root Beer Day with the South Dakota Special Olympics and Hy-Vee Tuesday.

You can get an icy cold root beer float for just $1 on Tuesday, August 6, from 1:00 to 6:00 PM at all the Sioux Falls Hy-Vee stores. All proceeds raised go back to Special Olympics South Dakota.

Special Olympics South Dakota is a year-round program of sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. More than 2,750 athletes in more than 50 communities train and compete in over 26 Olympic-type sports.

The Special Olympics was founded in 1968 and strives to provide people with intellectual disabilities continuing opportunities to develop fitness, demonstrate courage, and experience joy as they participate in the sharing of gifts and friendships with other athletes, their families, and the community.

There is never any fee to participate in Special Olympics, which is why Hy-Vee is offering its support for this delicious fundraiser.

So remember, tomorrow, Tuesday, August 6th at your neighborhood Hy-Vee, you can help support our Special Olympics athletes just by slurping down an ice-cold root beer float for only a buck!
