Sioux Falls Speeder Busted Doing 102 During Saturation Patrol
Sioux Falls Saturation Patrol issued over 100 tickets including one to a person going 102 mph on the city's streets.
Sioux Falls Police Department brought on 8 additional officers to conduct a city saturation patrol with 114 citations.
The daytime saturation patrol was conducted on Sat. July 20.
Sioux Falls Information Officer Sam Clemens said that "the bulk of the 114 citations were issued for speeding."
74 speeding tickets along with tickets for seat belts, driver's licenses, and other driving violations made up the 114 citations.
The highest speed recorded in Sioux Falls on Saturday was a man doing 102 mph in a 40 miles per hour zone near 26th Street and Ellis Road.
He was cited for reckless driving.
Another driver was ticketed for doing 67 mph in a 30 mph zone on Kiwanis Ave.
Officer Clemens stated concerning the Saturation patrols “This is not anything we are going to stop doing soon.
One of the biggest complaints we get is driving and speeding.
And obviously, we've seen recently that the dangers of that excessive speed can cause death or injury to people. We've got to get people to slow down.”
