Sioux Falls Drivers: Lane Closures on 57th Street & Sycamore Ave.
If your daily commute takes you along West 57th Street or South Sycamore Avenue in Sioux Falls, you'll want to plan for some temporary traffic impacts beginning Monday, June 15.
The City of Sioux Falls has announced crack sealing projects on both roadways that will require lane closures while crews complete maintenance work designed to extend the life of the pavement.
On West 57th Street:
The eastbound lanes between South Ellis Road and South Marion Road will be closed first.
Once that portion of the project is completed, crews will shift traffic control measures and begin work on the westbound lanes.
On South Sycamore Avenue:
The southbound lanes from East 57th Street to East 69th Street will be closed initially.
After repairs are finished, crews will move to the northbound lanes to complete the project.
The good news for motorists is that one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction throughout construction.
Access to homes, businesses, and side streets will also be maintained during the work.
City officials expect both projects to be completed by mid-June, weather permitting.
Officials are encouraging motorists to use extra caution, reduce speeds when traveling through construction zones, and consider alternate routes if possible.
