Shots Fired, Standoff at Sioux Falls Motel
With Sioux Falls Police and SWAT officers on the scene, one man is in custody Monday after a standoff at a local motel.
According to KSFY TV, authorities were called to the Red Rock Inn on W. 41st Street near the I-29 interchange after gunfire was reported on Sunday evening. Investigators say a man fired a gun at another man and his dog, then ran into one of the hotel rooms.
The rooms nearby at the motel were evacuated as officers made contact with the suspect. Three people came out of the room, but the suspected shooter refused to come out. A SWAT team was called in to assist during the six-hour standoff.
KSFY reports that the suspect eventually surrendered peacefully. He was arrested for assault, drug, and weapons charges.
