At his Saturday morning press conference Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken announced that he has signed an emergency declaration in response to flood waters that are threatening critical infrastructure within the city.
Residents in the Sioux Falls area are urged to minimize water usage over the coming days to reduce strain on local infrastructure.
Additionally, it's advised to inspect sump pumps and redirect their discharge away from floor drains.
Mayor Tenhaken also urged people to resist temptation and avoid going down to see the dangerous raging waters at Falls Park, thousands of people are flocking to the center of the city to view the water's awesome power.
