Farmer is currently in custody after being charged with the murder of Shaffer.

According to Dakota News Now, Farmer told authorities that he was not alone when he confronted Shaffer on the day of the shooting. He was joined by his "homeboy" Brian who drove a gold-colored vehicle.

After police reviewed surveillance footage from the area, they determined that two individuals driving a gold Cadillac did indeed enter the apartment complex on West Bailey.

Dakota News Now reports that video evidence shows Jones, Sr. the driver of the vehicle going back and forth from the car to inside the apartment a few times before finally getting into the vehicle's driver's seat and staying there. Farmer exited the building a short time later and got inside the Cadillac.

Evidence shows that Farmer and Jones, Sr. are reported to be co-workers.

According to Dakota News Now, police issued a warrant for Jones, Sr. on Tuesday (September 10).

Police told Dakota News Now that Jones claims he and Farmer were talking in the kitchen when a white man came into the apartment and walked down the hallway. Farmer excused himself to use the restroom, and Jones said that’s when Farmer and the man began to talk, but said there was no heated exchange.

As the two men talked, Jones left and waited for Farmer in his vehicle. Jones returned to the apartment a few minutes later, heard several gunshots, and then immediately returned to his car. Farmer came out moments after that and got into the passenger's seat of the car. The two men then left the scene and Jones, Sr. dropped off Farmer at another residence.

Dakota News Now reports that Jones told police he never brought along a gun, nor did he give a gun, to Farmer. However, during the search of the residence Jones, Sr. had been staying at, authorities found ammunition that matched the same brand and caliber found at the scene of the crime in his bedroom. A magazine with the same ammo was also in the bedroom, but a gun was not located.

Farmer had previously told police that Shaffer was shot multiple times and that he knew Shaffer was deceased upon leaving the West Bailey residence the day of the murder.

Jones, Sr, is being held on a $250,000 cash bond, while Farmer remains in custody on a 1 million dollar bond.
