New Speed Limit Issued On Iowa Great Lakes!
You will need to slow your boat way down on these Iowa lakes!
According to Dakota News Now powerful storms struck the Iowa Great Lakes region over the weekend with fierce winds and heavy rains that left a trail of damage across the area.
In response to the aftermath of these storms, Dickinson County Emergency Management swiftly took action.
During an emergency meeting on Monday afternoon, county leaders imposed a 5-mile-per-hour speed limit on all lakes within Dickinson County, including the Iowa Great Lakes.
This order was prompted by the recent storms, rising lake levels, and the forecast for additional storms in the near future.
The storms and elevated water levels have already damaged shorelines, docks, boats, and trees.
The Dickinson County Emergency Management Commission did not arrive at their decision lightly, but they ultimately determined that decisive action was necessary to safeguard the integrity of the lakes.
