Jobs You Might Want to Think Twice about before Taking
If your child is at that stage in their life where they're trying to figure out what to do for a living, here's a list of jobs they need to look at.
CareerCast, an online career advice website, recently looked at the most up-to-date figures from the U.S. Labor Department and evaluated the top 200 jobs that have the most employees in the United States.
Researchers used a formula that took into account the following variables:
- income and growth potential in the field,
- degree of competitiveness,
- amount of public contact,
- physical demands,
- amount of travel required,
- deadlines,
- physical risks.
After sifting through the figures, here's the website's list of “worst jobs" to go into, #10 being the worst:
- Mail Carrier
- Firefighter
- Taxi Driver
- Corrections Officer
- Photojournalist
- Broadcaster
- Cook
- Enlisted Military Personnel
- Lumberjack
- Newspaper Reporter
On the other side of the coin, here's their list of "best jobs" with the most promising future:
- Actuary
- Audiologist
- Mathematician
- Statistician
- Biomedical Engineer
- Data Scientist
- Dental Hygienist
- Software Engineer
