South Dakota Franchise Owner Andrew Ticknor says, "Jersey Mike's motto is 'we give to give’. Taking one day out of the year to donate every dollar of sales to an organization like this warms the heart and makes us proud of what we do."
According to Dakota News Now All seven Jersey Mike's locations across South Dakota are participating, with proceeds going toward sending 43 South Dakota athletes to compete on the national stage.
The Day of Giving ranks among the busiest days of the year for Jersey Mike's staff, with employees arriving as early as 4:00 a.m. to prepare for the surge of customers.
This isn't the first time the chain has rallied behind South Dakota's Special Olympics team. Jersey Mike's also sponsored the group's 2022 trip to Orlando.
"It costs us about $70,000 to take all of our athletes to the USA Games," said Haley Zerr, Head of Sports and Competition with Special Olympics South Dakota. "Without Jersey Mike's, it wouldn't be possible. From uniforms to travel, food, and lodging, every dollar helps."
Beyond the logistics, the trip carries profound personal meaning for many of the athletes.
