Which MVFC Programs Have Won the Most Conference Titles?
The Missouri Valley Football Conference continues to be among the strongest conferences in all of FCS College Football.
This past season, the South Dakota Coyotes earned a share of their first-ever conference title after finishing the regular season with a 7-1 conference record.
The Yotes tied for the top spot with both South Dakota State and North Dakota State a season ago.

All three programs made it to the FCS Semifinals, with the Bison ultimately winning the National Championship yet again, this time over Montana State.
The conference dates back to 1985 when it began with just six members (UNI, Missouri State, Western Illinois, Southern Illinois, Eastern Illinois, and Illinois State).
As of now, the conference has 11 members but will go down to 10 when Missouri State officially departs for Conference USA in 2025-26.
Here's a deep dive into the most dominant football programs in the conference in terms of titles (outright and shared):
1) Northern Iowa Panthers - 16 Titles
2) North Dakota State Bison - 11 Titles
3) Southern Illinois Salukis - 5 Titles
T-4) South Dakota State Jackrabbits - 5 Titles (2016, 2020-21, 2022, 2023, 2024)
