Inclement weather is pushing back this week's hot air balloon glow event in Sioux Falls.

Cold temperatures and a threat of rain have forced The Sioux Falls Ballooning Association to reschedule Tuesday's (October 27th)  Great Pumpkin Balloon Glow event at Yankton Trail Park.

The event will now take place Thursday (October 29th) at 5:00 PM.

What's the next best thing to taking to the skies for an unforgettable hot-air-balloon ride? Getting up close and personal when one of these majestic beauties is all fired up.

You'll get your chance for the latter this week when the Sioux Falls Ballooning Association lights up the night sky Tuesday (October 27) with their annual Great Pumpkin Balloon Glow event at Yankton Trail Park.

Weather permitting, the free event begins with an opportunity to check out a walk-in balloon at 5:00 PM. Inflations of the balloons start at 5:30 PM.

Organizers say six balloons will be part of the event.

The Sioux Falls Ballooning Association dates back to 1982 and was established as part of the city's tie to the sport. Raven Industries engineer Ed Yost invented the modern propane-assisted hot air balloon and piloted its maiden flight on October 22, 1960.

The association holds local launches throughout the year and also offers scenic rides and pilot flight instruction.
