Sioux Falls drivers will need to look for an alternative route for several weeks in the southwest part of town.

Beginning Monday, June 22nd, the 49th Street Bridge over Interstate 29 will be closed as part of a rehabilitation project that includes bridge deck repairs; retrofit of concrete barriers; repairs to joints and approach slabs; repairs to the concrete pavement; installation of new pedestrian railing; and pavement markings.

During the construction, 49th Street will be closed between Terry Avenue and Solberg Avenue. The closure is scheduled for 50 working days or approximately 10 weeks.

No detours will be in place. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes. Pedestrian traffic will be allowed through the project area but will be detoured to opposite sides of the street as construction progresses.

The $1.17 million project is scheduled to be completed on Friday, October 23rd.

13 Times Sioux Falls Made it into a 'Jeopardy!' Question

If the world was divided into Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune people, I would be down for Jeopardy! all the way. It's a lot more fun, it makes me feel smart because I can retain lots of trivia, and I am a horrible speller. So Wheel is out, no whammies.

Recently I discovered (I mean wasted a lot of time on) a website that is an archive of clues that have been on Jeopardy!.

While digging around the archive, I wanted to find out how often Sioux Falls came up in a question (Answer) on the show. Since 1990 Sioux Falls has been part of a question or an answer 13 times.

See How East 10th Street in Sioux Falls Has Changed

It's really interesting using Google Streetview to compare the changes from the earliest pictures to the latest.

For Sioux Falls, the earliest views are from 2008 and the latest from early 2022.

Some of the looks aren't the clearest, but it still gives a real good look at how dynamic the east side of Sioux Falls is.
