There's been a lot of questions surrounding a local neighborhood Sioux Falls pizza joint, and now we have answers behind the sudden closure.

Sioux Falls was starting to notice Boss’ Pizza and Chicken locations closed out of the blue a few weeks ago. The founders Jeremy and Heidi Seefeldt came clean late last week while also announcing the re-opening of the West side eatery.

What Happened to Boss' Pizza and Chicken in Sioux Falls?

Let's just say there's a lot of sauce to this story. In a heartfelt and apologetic letter on Facebook, Jeremy and Heidi Seefeldt went through step by step as to how and why the Boss’ Pizza and Chicken Sioux Falls shops closed. It started when the local business grew in popularity in 2020. This ultimately led to franchising the business.

In January 2024 was when both Sioux Falls locations were sold to a "local franchisee." This original franchisee partner made certain decisions that didn't sit well with the Sioux Falls community. It's all explained in the Facebook post.

Trust me when I say, Jeremy and Heidi Seefeldt were just as heartbroken as us to see the business they love and built closed after almost 21 years. They want to make it right

Heidi and I apologize for any poor service, poor quality, or apathy you have received from Boss' Pizza and Chicken or its employees the last couple of years. Part of business is learning and we have learned that giving leniency when holding franchisees accountable for the things that make Boss' food and service great, is not the way to help your franchisees be successful. We take accountability for our part in any poor quality or service that you have received in the last couple of years because of that, and ask that you please give the new franchisees a chance to show you that they understand what it takes to bring you a great product as quickly as possible, and treat you with respect in every conversation you have with them and appreciate your business.

What's Next For Boss' Pizza and Chicken?

The good news is Jeremy and Heidi Seefeldt saved the 26th Street location and the lease. Boss’ Pizza and Chicken is now opened for your from 4 PM to 3 AM daily for carryout and delivery with franchisees Michael Shelburg and his wife Sandra taking the lead. They couldn't be more excited to be part of this new tasty journey.

It's not easy being a local business owner, and this is the perfect example of that. We're just glad to have Boss’ Pizza and Chicken back in Sioux Falls!

The 10 Most Redneck Towns in South Dakota

Are you a 'Redneck?' I guess to some people, all of us in South Dakota are rednecks.

If we use the Jeff Foxworthy Scale of Redneckeness, I have, in fact, been too drunk to fish. So by definition, I am a redneck. And so are many people I know.

Not that being from the country is a bad thing, and it can be fun to poke fun at ourselves.

With that in mind, we found that the folks at RoadSnacks put together a list that claims 'These Are The 10 Most Redneck Cities In South Dakota.'
What is a Redneck?

The dictionary says that a redneck is someone "...who lives in a small town or in the country, especially in the southern U.S., who typically has a working-class job, and who is seen by others as being uneducated and having opinions and attitudes that are offensive."

Well, a few things. First, South Dakota isn't THAT kind of 'south.' We're to the south of North Dakota, but to the north of 'The South.'

Plus that definition sounds awful mean and serious. I thought we were having fun here.

RoadSnacks leaned into the funny, Jeff Foxworthy-based version of a redneck. Then they rounded up select data on places in SD to determine their rankings. RoadSnacks Redneck Criteria:

  • Small towns
  • Least amount of high school graduates
  • Number of bars per city
  • Number of mobile home parks per capita
  • Number of tobacco stores per city
  • Number of places to get fishing gear
  • Number of guns and ammo stores per city
  • Walmarts, Bass Pro Shops, and dollar stores nearby

See Some of Sioux Falls' Beautiful Murals [PHOTOS]

I was in Canton, SD, and I happened upon a new mural.

It was really cool and that got me thinking that I know of a few murals in Sioux Falls, but I bet there's more than I realize. So, I put it out on social media for the people of Sioux Falls to tell me where all the murals are!

A few of them I had never seen, or never even been to that part of town, and a few of them, I drive by all the time and never noticed!

I know a few businesses have murals inside their establishments, but I decided to keep it to murals that are totally open for the public to see. No need to be 21!

So, here we go! Let's check out some of Sioux Falls' murals.
Did I miss one? Let me know!
