Officer Max has been a dedicated member of the Rapid City Police Department for the last five years. But after his days of catching bad guys and keeping Rapid City safe, Max is officially retiring.

He was beloved by many of his fellow officers, so they had to celebrate Max's service with a huge party.

Late last week, officers from the Rapid City Police Department took the time to honor Max and his former handler, Senior Officer Roan Reiman. Max received a joyful send-off late last week. Officials with the Rapid City Police Department even highlighted some of Max's accomplishments with the Facebook video of his last day.

In his time with the RCPD, K9 Max has assisted with more than 100 felony arrests, dozens of drug seizures, and the arrest of 40 violent offenders.

Max will now spend his retirement with Officer Reiman and his family.

The community of Rapid City is also celebrating Max's service with the Rapid City Police Department:
