South Dakota officials are looking for four fugitives on the run after escaping from the South Dakota State Penitentiary.

It's never a bad idea to be safe and vigilant when you're out and about in South Dakota. It almost seems a little silly at times. But on the other hand, you never know what could happen in this crazy world or who you'll encounter.

So who are these South Dakota fugitives on the run?  The most wanted criminals in South Dakota can easily be found on the South Dakota Department of Corrections website. On a local level, the most wanted fugitives are identified on the Minnehaha County website. For this new alert, let's focus on the South Dakota escapees from the South Dakota Department of Corrections.

Keep in mind: Most of the fugitives listed are not considered a threat to the public.

Taksim Neziroski

Neziroski is considered the oldest South Dakota fugitive on the run. The South Dakota Department of Corrections explains Neziroski  was currently "serving a 10-year sentence with 6 years suspended for grand theft out of Codington County, a 5-year sentence with 4 years suspended for 3rd-degree burglary out of Lawrence County and a 10-year sentence with 9 years suspended for grand theft out of Lawrence County."

Dotson is currently serving time for multiple drug crime convictions.

Jeremiah Stands

At the time of his sentencing, Stands was "serving a 5-year sentence with 2 years suspended for fourth offense DWI out of Tripp County." During his initial arrest, Jeremiah was 5-feet-9 inches and a 32-year-old Native American weighing 285 pounds.

Phillip Black Bear

Phillip Black Bear was serving "sentences for vehicular homicide out of Mellette County." He never returned to the Rapid City Minimum Unit after going on a job search for work release employment.
