Winning Wednesday Minnesota Lottery Ticket Worth Over $500K Remains Unclaimed
Recently, a Minnesota Lottery winner in Duluth scored a $191,827 payday playing Print-N-Play, a progressive jackpot game where players can try Crossword, Bingo, or Slots to win. All of these games share the same jackpot, which starts at $5,000 and continues to grow until someone wins.
That jackpot, which has since been claimed by the winner, was won at the Chalet Lounge, located at 4883 Miller Trunk Highway, on Thursday, August 17. Less than a week later, an even bigger payday was won in northern Minnesota and that money remained unclaimed nearly 48 hours later.
The winning ticket came from the Gopher 5 lotto game. Gopher 5 is a Minnesota-only lotto game that is drawn around 6:17 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Tickets are $1 per play, with a jackpot that starts at $100,000 and grows until won. The Minnesota Lottery notes that a portion of every dollar played helps protect Minnesota’s great outdoors.
On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, the Gopher 5 jackpot had grown to $554,640. That evening the following winning numbers were drawn: 16-21-26-38-45. Those lucky numbers just happened to be on a ticket purchased not too far away from that recent Duluth win.
The $554,640 Gopher 5 winning ticket was purchased in Cloquet at the Holiday Station Store, located at 1420 Cloquet Avenue.
Hopefully, the winner still has that ticket and remembers to check Wednesday's numbers to see how they did. Unless they decide to come forward publicly, we may never know who that person is. Lottery regulation changes took place to protect winners who win over $10,000. Big-money winners can become targets for scammers and fraud, so the Minnesota Lottery will not divulge their name unless they first agree to it.
