Magnificent Beam Of Light Spotted In Northern Minnesota – Rocket Launch? Aliens? Laser Beam?

I ran across this photo on Facebook and it immediately caught my attention. A woman photographed an amazing beam of light coming out of the woods in Northern Minnesota.

The photo was taken on December 2nd and posted around 9:30 PM. The photo's location was in Babbit, Minnesota in Northern St. Louis County.

A woman named Jill took the photo and posted it to the group Northern Lights Alert on Facebook, asking if anyone knew what she was seeing.

Jill said it was more defined and bright to the naked eye compared to the photo she took and shared from her iPhone. If you've ever tried to take a picture of a beautiful moon or bright light in the sky, you understand that even with current technology it just doesn't do it justice.

What are the possible explanations?

Of course, someone had to go to aliens right off the bat. Other people suggested it could be a searchlight from a casino, like Fortune Bay Casino in Tower. It could be possible, but it's 20 miles Northwest of Britt.

Some say it could be a rocket launch, but that would be pretty weird because as far as I know there aren't any launch pads in northern Minnesota.

It's not the aurora borealis, and it's not Starlink satellites, so what else could it be?

Could it be ice pillars? Frozen fog?

One of the most reasonable explanations is still pretty cool. It could be an ice pillar. The conditions have to be just right.

Ice pillars, also called light pillars, happen when colder dense winter air brings millions of flat ice crystals lower to the ground. They can hover or float in the air resistance and reflect a light source from the ground.
