However, if you believe the latest Wallet Hub Study on the Most & Least Stressed States, our tri-state area is home to a lot of fairly chill people.

In fact, after they did the comparing and contrasting of all 50 states, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa landed at the bottom of the stressed-out list. And that's a good thing.

The Top 5 Least Stressed Out States Are:

  1. Nebraska
  2. Minnesota
  3. New  Hampshire
  4. South Dakota
  5. Iowa

The Top 5 Most Stressed Out States Are:

  1. New Mexico
  2. Nevada
  3. Louisiana
  4. West Virginia
  5. Mississippi

Wallet Hub looked at all kinds of stressors from work-related stress to money-related stress, family stress, and health & safety stress.

Within those categories, they considered things like commute times, average hours worked per week, unemployment rates, median incomes, bankruptcy rates, poverty rates, childcare costs, mental health statistics, depression rates, the cost of health insurance, crime rates, and more.

Some of the experts they talked to when doing this report had a few helpful tips for fighting the stress we all deal with. Getting enough sleep, doing some form of exercise, eating as healthily as possible, and getting out into nature were some primary suggestions.
