This is an easy question, with an even easier answer!

One research project after another on the subject of volunteering has shown time and time again that making a difference in someone else's life can lead to big positive changes in your own!

The Helpline Center has been an advocate of both life-changing experiences. Over the last several years, one of the most fun, successful, and soul-satisfying programs they offer has been the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Projects.

Every month they suggest taking on a project on your own, with friends, or family, your church or youth group, service clubs, business groups, and more.

It could be anything, and while they suggest a monthly project, you can choose any of them, to do anytime, and then offer them to Helpline suggested agencies, shelters, churches, etc.

Here is just one suggestion for you:

  • Back-to-School Backpacks - Every year thousands of kids have to start the school year without the supplies they need and/or want. You can help a child be a success in school just by lending a hand.

What do we need to do?

  1. Purchase a backpack
  2. Buy school supplies to fill it with
  3. Add an encouraging note
  4. Call the Helpline Center at 211 to find out where it is needed

What kind of school supplies?

  • Pencils
  • Pink erasers
  • Elmer's glue
  • Gluesticks
  • Kid-friendly scissors
  • Kleenex.
  • Notebooks
  • Loose leaf paper
  • Crayons
  • A fun pencil case
  • Hand sanitizer

For more information on these volunteer opportunities, and hundreds of others, call the Helpline Center at 211, or see Helpline Center online, on FacebookTwitterInstagram, and Linkedin.
