Will Hooters Return To Sioux Falls With A New Family Focus?
I am fairly sure this is one of the seven signs that the end is near, or it's getting dangerously close!
Hooters, the chain long known for its wings, sports, and very specific branding, is working on a rebrand aimed at becoming more family-friendly. Yes, you read that right. Somewhere, you can almost hear the collective scream of men everywhere yelling... no, no, no!!!
According to Dakota News Now, the company is looking to return to its original roots, dialing things back and leaning into more of a beach-themed, casual dining atmosphere. Part of that shift includes changes to the iconic Hooters uniform. The famous orange shorts aren’t going away, but they are getting a bit more coverage compared to some of the more revealing styles that popped up in recent years.

For those of us, long-time Sioux Falls residents, this might bring back a few memories. Some of you might remember the old Hooters on West 41st Street, sitting kiddy-corner from Best Buy in that distinctive A-frame building. It had its moment, drew some curiosity, and then, like a lot of novelty-driven spots, quietly faded as the local sports bar scene grew more and more competitive.
Since that location closed, rumors of a Hooters comeback have popped up every now and then, including a petition that made the rounds about a year ago. But so far, nothing concrete has materialized, and there are no confirmed plans to bring the chain back to South Dakota’s largest city.
The rebrand comes after a significant shake-up for the company. Earlier this year, Hooters’ original owners reportedly bought back more than 100 locations following a bankruptcy filing in March of 2025. Along with the updated image and uniforms, there are also whispers of a few alleged menu tweaks as well.

So now the question becomes, will a more family-friendly Hooters eventually make its way back to the Sioux Empire? Never say never. But if it does, it might look a little different than you remember: same great wings, with the correct wing sauce, slightly less shock value, and maybe a few more families gathered around tables.
