Honda Recalls Over 250,000 Vehicles For Brake Issues
Honda has announced a significant safety recall affecting more than 250,000 Honda and Acura vehicles due to a critical brake pedal defect.
The recall by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration covers:
- 2021-2025 Acura TLX
- 2023-2025 Acura MDX
- 2023-2025 Honda Pilot models.
The Safety Issue
The recall centers on a defective brake pedal pivot pin that was not properly secured during manufacturing.
This defect can cause the brake pedal to shift out of position, potentially preventing drivers from applying brakes effectively.
According to the NHTSA recall notice, "A brake pedal that shifts out of position can prevent the driver from applying the brakes as intended, increasing the risk of a crash or injury."
What Honda Is Doing
Honda will begin notifying affected vehicle owners by mail starting July 28, 2025. The company will provide free inspections and brake pedal assembly replacements at authorized dealerships. Honda reports no injuries have been linked to this defect so far.
