Get Read to Race: Details of the Hobby Horse Relay

Registration is now open for what may be the funniest and most fun event this summer. The 2nd Annual Hobby Horse Relay at Lake Lorraine on Saturday, June 20, at 12 PM, presented by McCrossan Boys Ranch and Big Lost Meadery and Brewery.

Saddle up for a hilarious one-mile relay around Lake Lorraine completed on stick horses, brooms, mops, hockey sticks, or whatever trips your horsey trigger!

This event, which will no doubt bring out the competitive kid in all participants, will be a blast to watch and even more fun to be a part of. All funds raised will support McCrossan Boys Ranch, which has been providing hope and opportunity to at-risk youth for over 70 years.

Exciting & Wacky Challenges Await You!

There will be 15 challenges set up along the lakefront, including stick horse barrel racing, hammersloggen, jousting, trivia, sandcastle building, and much more.

Wild costumes are not only expected, but encouraged, along with additional wacky challenges and tons of good old-fashioned fun.

Here are the complete details:

  • Date: Saturday, June 20, at 12 PM
  • Location: Lake Lorraine (You can pay your registration fee onsite at Big Lost Meadery & Brewery)
  • Team size: 4 people
  • Ages: 16 and up only
  • Entry fee: $70 for Early -bird registration, $80 per team day of the event (Includes four drink tickets courtesy of Big Lost Meadery)
  • Registration limit: First 50 teams only (Hurry, there are only a few spots left!)
  • Waivers: All participants must sign a waiver
  • Costumes: Encouraged but not required - there will be prizes for the most spirited steeds!

According to Sam Clikeman, owner of Big Lost Meadery, "It's not your average race. It's part relay, part costume contest, and 100% fun - all while supporting the youth at McCrossan Boys Ranch."
