Gifting for Good is a unique way to get your holiday shopping done early and keep it local in South Dakota. Brookings, South Dakota, to be specific.

This Thursday through Saturday, November 20 through 22, 2025, you'll have the opportunity to get in on a lot of fun in Brookings, plus fill those stockings with creative gifts that also help to fulfill a mission.

Every location participating in Gifting for Good is asking shoppers to bring a food or personal care item for Jack's Cupboard, to help alleviate food insecurity among students at South Dakota State University.

Participating "Gifting for Good" locations include:

  • Children's Museum of South Dakota's Play Central Toys & Books - 521 4th Street, Brookings -  Hand-selected books, games, plush, puzzles, t-shirts, STEM-related toys, and unique children’s toys. 605-692-6700
  • Brookings Arts Council - 524 4th Street, Brookings - They are having the 2025 Festival of Trees (Candied Christmas), and you can explore their pop-up holiday store, featuring local artisan items. 605-692-4177
  • McCrory Gardens - 631 22nd Ave., Brookings - Unique items from local vendors such as honey, holiday cards, and plants. 605-688-6707
  • South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum - 977 11th St., Brookings- Find a unique selection of South Dakota-made gifts, books, food products, and more! The Ag Museum is also hosting a book signing with Chuck Cecil for his latest book, “Grandpa’s Tractors,” on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 10 am to noon. 605-688-6226.
  • South Dakota Art Museum - 1036 Medary Ave., Brookings - Unique gifts from South Dakota and beyond.
