Gary and Melody Kaasa raised chickens on their small Davenport, Iowa farm and have been showing livestock at the Mississippi Valley Fair for years.

The chicken has an extra set of legs growing out of its back and appears healthy.

Experts from Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine have been carefully monitoring the chick, conducting tests and observations to better understand the nature of its abnormality.

While four-legged chickens can face challenges with mobility and other physiological issues this chick seems to be adapting well and drawing crowds of fascinated onlookers.

At this point they don't know if it's a boy chicken or girl chicken.
