The South Dakota Department of Public Safety will be closing applications for its next Director of Homeland Security on Monday, November 18.

The individual who will fill the position will be responsible for the administration of South Dakota's homeland security program plus, advise state leaders on threats facing the state and how to best mitigate those threats.

There are many other facets of this position including fiscal and personnel management. The director will also supervise the newly-created school safety program manager and will administer three federal STOP School Violence grants South Dakota has received.

This is a full-time position with the Department of Public Safety and the candidate chosen will be required to secure a federal security clearance.
