The Music World Mourns Loss of Eddie Money at Age 70

The music world is mourning the loss of iconic singer Eddie Money who passed away at the age of 70 on Friday the 13th.

His family issued a statement that reads: “The Money Family regrets to announce that Eddie passed away peacefully early this morning. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. We cannot imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live on forever through his music.”

Recently, the "Two Tickets to Paradise" singer was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer and had battled other health scares including pneumonia and complications from a heart valve replacement procedure.

Money's last concert in the area was at Grand Falls Casino on Friday, February 15, 2019.

Eddie Money was born Edward Joseph Mahoney on March 21, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York to a family with a long line of family members who were New York City police officers. He also served with the NYPD for two years, before he headed to California to pursue his music career.

That career spanned over 4 decades, during which he released 11 albums and sold 28 million records. Money is survived by his wife of 30 years, Laurie, and five children.
