A Unique Summer Experience: Clark's Potato Days

During this season of summer fairs and festivals, surely Clark, South Dakota's Potato Days, has to be one of the wackiest and most fun! I mean, where else can you go to watch full-on "Mashed Potato Wrestling"?

But that is just one of the fun activities you'll find in this very small community, which is about two hours north and west of Sioux Falls. Clark's Potato Days is going on for four days, beginning next Thursday, July 30, through Sunday, August 2.

Event Highlights: A Four-Day Celebration of Fun!

Thursday's activities kick off with the Dodgeball Tournament and Spud Olympics. On Friday, July 31, there will be a community appreciation lunch from 11 AM to 1 PM, and the Wine on Nine golf tourney starts at 3 PM at the Clark Golf Club.

Kids will start decorating their bikes for the Kiddie Parade at the Methodist Church at 5, with the parade beginning at 5:30 PM. There will be inflatables from 6 to 9 PM and a family movie at 9 PM - both at the swimming pool park.

Saturday's events begin with a delicious pancake and sausage breakfast at the American Legion from 7 to 10 AM. Then the day really gets busy - with a Mile/5K Walk, 5K/10K Run or Bike Race, Kids Tractor Pull, Arts in the Park, Kids Foam Party at the Swimming Pool Park, Tough Farmer Competition, Best Decorated Potato Contest, and the big Car Show from Noon to 4 PM.

Yes, Mashed Potato Wrestling Is Really a Thing!

The most famous event, of course, takes place at noon at the Swimming Pool Park. The amazingly messy but fun Mashed Potato Wrestling is a must-see if you're going to head up to Clark for this summertime tradition.
