Because South Dakota is what is often referred to as a "landlocked" state, people forget just how much shoreline we have in our state. Some research indicates that because of our numerous lakes and rivers, the state has more shoreline than the state of Florida.

While the actual mileage isn't always stated, it is guessed to be around 1900 miles of shoreline. In fact, the Lake Oahe reservoir is a large contributor to all of that shoreline.

But one thing is for certain: we have a lot of beautiful lake areas in our state, and one travel website, Get My Boat, took it upon itself to choose the most beautiful lakes in South Dakota.
