
Woman Has Car Stolen at Gunpoint in Southwest Sioux Falls
Just another day, just another gun crime in Sioux Falls. The latest crime involved someone having their car stolen at gunpoint.
The incident occurred on Saturday night, (June 22) in Southwest Sioux Falls.
Dakota News Now reports the robbery happened in the neighborhood of 45th Street and Cathy Ave. Police say a Sioux Falls woman was threatened with a gun while inside her vehicle.

According to Dakota News Now, a suspect walked up to the victim's car and knocked on the window. The suspect then produced a handgun, which prompted the victim to get out of her car while it was still running.
The police report says that the suspect and another person took off with the victim's car. Authorities eventually found the stolen vehicle, after it was involved in an accident with another parked car following the armed robbery.
The suspects had already left the scene by the time police arrived.
The case is under investigation, and Dakota News Now reports that no arrests have been made at this time.
Gun crimes continue to be a problem throughout Sioux Falls!
Gun-related calls to the Sioux Falls Police Department have seen a 43% increase since 2019 according to an article published in Pigeon 605 in 2022.
What's even more alarming, there has been a 155% increase in crimes where a gun is used in Sioux Falls from 2010 to 2021.
The Pigeon 605 article states that data shows repeat offenders and younger people are largely to blame for the jump in gun violence throughout the Sioux Falls area.
